A successful special preview for School of Visual Arts and NYCOS past sponsors, August 18, 2010.
On the night of August 18, 2010, an off Broadway production of the newly created Peking Opera, the Story of Ruth, was performed by NYCOS to the delight of over 200 friends and patrons of Peking Opera at Beatrice Theatre of the School of Visual Arts. The exclusive Appreciation Event was made possible by the generous support of the School of Visual Arts (SVA) and NYCOS sponsors. The spectacular show was a product of team effort of over a year’s preparation and rehearsals led by Ms. Li Li, the Director and everyone involved in the process.
Mr. Chi. K. Chu, the Producer of the show, expressed his gratitude to the School, particularly to Mr. Jim Pirot, Executive Director of Facilities, and his team. The high level of professional achievement of the night’s production was made possible by their enthusiasm and efforts. Last but not least, the stunning nine panels of scenery artistically created by Mr. Kevin O’Callahan, added to the depth and enjoyment of the Opera, which was immensely appreciated by the opera troupe, especially the lead actress, Ms. Charlene Tong Shaw.
The night’s performance was a special preview for SVA and our past sponsors. The premier opening is scheduled to take place this December as one of the centerpieces of a three nights’ 2010 Winter Cultural Exchange Festival at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts. Details will be announced in the near future.
We have selected some photos of the event as well as emails from some of the audiences for your enjoyment. Please share our Joy for a job well done.
